It is a 6 km trail from Mallital to Naina Peak. Don't forget to tote your camera or a pair of binoculars to capture the breathtaking view along the way.

Bhimtal Lake -
Situated 22 kilometers from Nainital, at an altitude of 1,370 metres, Bhimtal is a small town in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. It is named after Bhim, one of the five Pandavas mentioned in the Hindu epic, the Mahabharata. With its intimate association with history and interesting tourist spots, Bhimtal is a popular tourist destination, with the most prominent attraction being the ‘Bhimtal Lake’, which is larger than the famous Naini Lake. The emerald green waters of the Bhimtal Lake mirror the lovely greenery of the surrounding hills and conjure a striking view. Spread over a vast area, Bhimtal Lake is home to a rich diversity of aquatic life. During the winter months, the lake is visited by migratory birds. Boat cruises are an excellent way to soak in the beauty of the place. Located on the banks of the lake is the famous Bhimeshwara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that Bhim actually constructed the temple himself. However, the temple was reconstructed in the 17th century by Baz Bahadur of the Chand Dynasty.

Sattal -
A group of seven fresh water lakes, a stash of nature's bounty and loads of migratory birds and panoramic vistas make this wonderful place called Sattal. A paradise for nature buffs and bird watchers, Sattal has mystery to it that makes it all the more charming and photographer's paradise. Situated in Kumaon Region at an elevation of 1370 m above the sea level, the area boasts of its cluster of seven interconnected lakes namely: Panna, Naldaymanti Tal, Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat and Sukha Tal flanked by lush green cover of oaks and pines. With pleasant weather throughout the year, a visit to this destination away from the noise of cities is an experience not to be missed.

Kainchi Dham -
One more religiously significant sites in the list of famous places to visit in Nainital, Kainchi Dham was built in 1962 by Neem Karoli Baba, the founder of Hanuman Garhi. A temple and an ashram, Kainchi Dam is engulfed by lush greenery and marvelous hills. Set alongside a glistening river, the temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is visited by several believers and worshippers regularly. Made famous to the world by Ex-Apple CEO, Steve Jobs’ visit in the 1970s and followed by Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, the temple hosts a massive fair every year on June 15th which is attended by locals and visitors alike.

Naina Devi Temple -
On the edges of the Naini Lake, stands the Naina Devi Temple, a famous Hindu pilgrimage site in Nainital. According to the legends, Naina Devi temple came into existence when Lord Shiva was carrying the corpse of Sati, and her eyes fell to the ground where the temple currently stands. The town, the lake, and the temple borrow its name Naina (eyes) Devi temple. Finding its ways from Kushan period, popularly known as Nanda or Naina Devi in the Kumaon region, an ancient temple is understood to have been built in 15th century AD, which might have been destroyed by a landslide. Later in 1842, the first Naina Devi idol was installed by Moti Lal Shah. However, in 1880, the temple was completely ruined because of the landslide. Soon, the temple was rebuilt again in 1883 by locals. Inside the temple, there is a vast courtyard, towards its left is a sacred peepal tree and to the right is the temple where idols of Lord Ganesh and Hanuman are installed. The main entrance of the temple has two lion statues posted outside. Inside the main sanctum, one can do darshan of three deities- Kali Devi on the extreme left, the centre representing two Netras or eyes is Maa Naina Devi and towards the right is the idol of Lord Ganesh. The temple attracts thousands of travellers and dwellers during the Nanda Ashtami, a grand festival that runs for eight days in the premises of Naina Devi temple. Every year a statue immersion ceremony is celebrated here since 1819-19. Other festivals like Navratri and Chaitra attracts a massive crowd. The reach the temple one can easily walk from the main bus stand of Nainital or can take a rickshaw to Mallital bus stand, followed by a 300 m walk.

Hanuman Garhi -
It is around 3.5 Kms away from the bus stop at an altitude of 1951 Mts. Hanuman Garhi is a religious centre and famous for its sun set view .One can go to Hanuman Garhi by taxi, bus or even on foot from Nainital .It has a temple complex presiding deity being Lord Hanuman besides Ram and Shiva. At the instance of Neem Karoli Baba around 1950 these temples were built. On the other side of the hill there is Shitala Devi temple and Ashram of Lila Sah Bapu. the temple’s centrepiece is a massive statue of Lord Hanuman with an image of Lord Rama in his chest cavity. As per Hindu mythology, Lord Hanuman was an ardent follower and the most trusted friend of Lord Rama, and he also helped Lord Rama to win over Ravana. The temple is especially busy on Tuesday and Saturday as these two days of the week are dedicated to Lord Hanuman.

Mukteshwar Temple -
Located at a height of 2,312 meters above sea level, Mukteswar Temple is regarded as one of the most significant tourist places in Nainital. Dating back 350 years, the temple is dedicated to Hindu deity, Lord Shiva, the destroyer and the highest of all gods. Rumor has it that the temple was constructed by the Pandavas during their exile. As the story goes, the brothers were firm believers of Lord Shiva and they created the temple to be blessed with deliverance from their uneasy life. The area surrounding the temple is bestowed with immaculate natural beauty. From the temple, you can view the snowclad Himalayan Peaks of Nandakot, Trishul, and Nanda Devi, the second-highest peak in the country.
